Indian Geotechnical Conference 2025

Abstract

The Indian Geotechnical Conference (IGC-2025) was successfully organised at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar from December 18 to 20 by the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Jalandhar Chapter in association with the Department of Civil Engineering. The conference was inaugurated by T. G. Sitharam, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, who emphasised the role of geotechnical engineering in sustainable infrastructure development and highlighted the need for innovation, quality research, and stronger academia–industry collaboration.A. K. Agnihotri, Organising Chairman and Chairman, IGS Jalandhar Chapter, welcomed the delegates and outlined the objectives of the conference. A. P. Singh, Secretary, IGS, spoke on the growth of the society, while Anil Joseph, President, IGS, highlighted the significance of the event and future directions of the society. Welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, NIT Jalandhar, expressed gratitude to IGS for selecting the institute as host and highlighted its academic and research achievements.The academic sessions began with the 47th IGS Annual Lecture by Deepankar Choudhury of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, who spoke on advances in geotechnical earthquake engineering.The conference witnessed participation from over 550 delegates and featured 12 keynote lectures, 2 invited talks, 14 theme lectures, and 455 technical paper presentations, along with an industry exhibition involving 24 sponsors. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by H. S. Chore, Secretary, IGS Jalandhar Chapter.
